Today I want to talk about survival knives. There are so many surivival knives to choose from, how do you know which survival knives are right for you. Think about what you will be using it for. My husband has always been a knife collector and a big believer in survival knives. I really didn't give it much thought though. He gave me a pocket knife for a present one year and at the time I thought it was the last thing I needed. But I accepted it with gradutude. To my surprise, it was the most handy gift I ever received. Since we started our webstore for survival supplies, I have had the opportunity to check out numerous survival knives. I think I may be becoming as obsessed as my husband.
A really good example about how important good survival knives are is that movie "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. The main character is given a knife for his birthday while in Alaska. To jump ahead a little the two men got stranded in the wildernss and were being staulked by a bear. This knife was the key ingredient for their ultimate survival against the bear and the outdoor elements they had to battle. This is one of my favorite movies and even though there are a couple of story lines going on in it, the importance of survival knives, to me, really stands out.
Without the help of survival knives, how did the cavemen make it? Everyone always refers to inventing the wheel but I wonder how long it took them to invenet the first knife. I think I will research that topic for my next blog on survival knives.
When I think of preparing for survival, I think of water first and survival knives second. What could be more important?
