Emergency Survival Kit

Well I spent a couple of hours today in the hospital with a friend who was hit by a big rig. You say what has that got to do with an emergency survival kit? Well just about everything. You never know when you will need an emergency survival kit or when someone else may come in need of an emergency survival kit. My friend survived the accident but she was trapped in her car for a short while. She must have had angels watching over her. Not many people can get into an accident with a big rig on the freeway and live to tell about it. I wonder if she had an emergency survival kit with her. She said no one stopped to help her at all. Do you think anyone passing by had an emergency survival kit with them? If they cared enough to carry an emergency survival kit then I think they would have stopped to help her. This is my quest. Get everyone to carry an emergency survival kit so that they will be prepared for themselves as well as anyone else that may come in need of an emergency survival kit.

My friends car (BMW) was totalled, but it probably saved her life. Very safe cars they are. I was in an accident in a BMW that was totalled too, last year. One bruise. The car was safe. But you know what? I didn't have an emergency survival kit with me and I would have been up a creek if I had needed one. You never know when a disaster will strike or where. What a hard lesson to learn. Get an emergency survival kit and put it in your closet. Get an emergency survival kit and put it in the trunk of all your cars. Get an emergency survival kit and put it in your office or place of business. Be prepared at all times. This is my mission to give you this information. Just do it NOW! I promise you won't be sorry. That emergency survival kit just may save you or someone you love's life.

Survival Knives

Today I want to talk about survival knives. There are so many surivival knives to choose from, how do you know which survival knives are right for you. Think about what you will be using it for. My husband has always been a knife collector and a big believer in survival knives. I really didn't give it much thought though. He gave me a pocket knife for a present one year and at the time I thought it was the last thing I needed. But I accepted it with gradutude. To my surprise, it was the most handy gift I ever received. Since we started our webstore for survival supplies, I have had the opportunity to check out numerous survival knives. I think I may be becoming as obsessed as my husband.

A really good example about how important good survival knives are is that movie "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. The main character is given a knife for his birthday while in Alaska. To jump ahead a little the two men got stranded in the wildernss and were being staulked by a bear. This knife was the key ingredient for their ultimate survival against the bear and the outdoor elements they had to battle. This is one of my favorite movies and even though there are a couple of story lines going on in it, the importance of survival knives, to me, really stands out.

Without the help of survival knives, how did the cavemen make it? Everyone always refers to inventing the wheel but I wonder how long it took them to invenet the first knife. I think I will research that topic for my next blog on survival knives.

When I think of preparing for survival, I think of water first and survival knives second. What could be more important?

Survival Supplies

This is the first time I've ever done this. I want to talk about survival supplies. We just started a website selling survival supplies. It's amazing how much we DON'T think about everyday. Like, do we ever really stop to think what we will do in the event of an actual disaster. We sooo take our comforts, luxuries, food, water, etc. for granted. Since starting this website, I've done a whole lot of research on disasters and what types of survival supplies are essential. It has been really eye opening. I thought we would only offer a limited few survival supplies, you know, just keep it simple, but there are so many different kinds of disasters that I've changed my line of thinking. It has become very aparent to me that it is imperative that we reach as many people as we can to teach them the importance of planning ahead and let them know what types of survival supplies are available to help in that preparation. This blog will be talking about that on a daily basis. I am also interested in hearing what kind of survival supplies people are interested in finding out about and what types of survival situations they have encountered in their lives and how they dealt with it and what survival supplies they used.
